SORMA News

• Oct 16, 2009:
  The Final Review Meeting took place in Barcelona. The SORMA team successfully presented a running prototype. Jobs were submitted to the SORMA Grid testbed. Two pilot cases from TXT and Correlation Systems were demonstrated as client applications. The Grid Market allocated the jobs efficiently to the testbed sites.

• Jun 10-11, 2008:
  

  A SORMA demonstration was given at the GRID collaboration days in Brussels. A number of developers from the SORMA project participated in this event, whilst others supported them in creating the demonstration. The demonstration proved to be very successful, and a number of positive comments were received on the SORMA project.

• Feb 15-21, 2008:
  The SORMA and the Development meeting were held in Barcelona. Major topic of discussion were the integration tests and the testbed configurations. The creation of virtual machine images facilitated the testing of the client applications.

• Sep 26, 2008:
  At the 2nd Annual Review in Brussels the second version of the prototype comprising almost all components will be presented. The improvements to the first prototype is the integration of the Pilots and the efficient communication between the different components. Furthermore the market place is running and allocating jobs efficiently according to the theoretical work on market mechanisms.

• Sep 23-24, 2008:
  The second Concertation meeting within the SORMA project.
  

• Sep 8-12, 2008:

  The SORMA and the Development meeting were held in Stockholm. A global test including most of the components was executed. Furthermore the components were tested to handle heavy workloads.

• Aug 23-31, 2008:
  Prof.

  Dr. Rajkumar Buyya from University of Melbourne, Australia, visited the University of Karlsruhe from 23Aug to 31Aug. He gave a presentation on "Market-Oriented Cloud Computing" and talked with the researchers at the institute about cooperation opportunities and discussed about their dissertation topics.

• Jul 14-18, 2008:
  The interface to the pilot applications are finished and running successfully. The communication between agent service, trading management and market exchange have to tested. The tests will be run at the Development workshop in Barcelona.
  
  

• Apr 28 and 30, 2008:
  In April the first approach was to integrate the pilot applications from TXT and Correlation Systems into the SORMA Open Grid Market.
  
  

• Mar 11 and 12, 2008:
  After the first successful year, the challenging task is to integrate the different SORMA components. The future steps were discussed at the SORMA Meeting in Karlsruhe, Germany.
  
  

• Oct 23, 2007:
  At the 1st Annual Review in Brussels the first prototype was successfully presented.
  
  

• Sep 26 and 27, 2007:
  Some memebers of of SORMA participated in the Concertation Meeting
  
  

• Sep 24 and 25, 2007:
  The meeting in Reading, UK, focused on preparing the first version of the prototype running as a demo.
  
  

• Sep 02-07, 2007:
  After the first two developers workshop in April and July 2007 a third meeting was organized in Barcelona. A first running prototype was developed based on Gridsphere. The Raytracing job was sent to the Grid and returned a 3D picture.
  
  

• July 02 and 03, 2007:
  Dr. Simon See, SUN Singapore, visited IM and held a talk about Utility Computing, Blackbox and Network.com.

  




• January 25 and 26, 2007:
  The members of SORMA gathered for a successful project meeting at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona.

  




• October 24, 2006:
  Relaunch of the SORMA website.

• September 19-21, 2006:
  SORMA takes part in the European Grid Technology Days in Brussels, Belgium. Click here for further information.





• September 4-5, 2006:
  SORMA started successfully with a kick-off meeting. Researches from three continents gathered in Karlsruhe.
