The Corporate Financial Portal (CoFiPot) has become one of the most frequently used tools within the Bayer Corporate Financial
department. Based on the project’s success a new cooperation, called TaxIS – Tax Information System - between Bayer AG,
Universität Karlsruhe (Prof. Weinhardt) and the university of Mannheim (Prof. Spengel) was initiated in 2005. The goal of
the project is to support the tax planning process through the web based Corporate Finanical Portal. In order to create
the data basis for tax planning the initial goal of the cooperation is the implementation of services to support the tax
compliance process (graphic 1). The first compliance services (tax assessment, tax appeals and tax audit administration)
were implemented at the beginning of 2008. For autumn 2008 the implementation of the remaining compliance services is planned.
In parallel the first planning services are scheduled for testing towards the end of 2009.
The contribution of IISM to the project is the technical conception of the project. Due to the tax-specific requirements
the conceptions also includes extensions the the core functionalities of CoFiPot. The research focus is on the effects that
the constant growth of the portal cause. On the one hand the number of users is constantly growing causing a highly heterogeneous
requirements profile. On the other hand the number of services has risen to a level that the mapping of users to required/useful
services must be supported by tools.
